New Online Course: Martyn’s Law Training
We’re excited to introduce our latest online course: Martyn’s Law Training.
This IIRSM-approved course provides a clear introduction to the Terrorism (Protection of Premises) Bill, also known as Martyn’s Law.
The course helps users understand where the new law applies and what it requires. It explains which public premises and events are affected and new duties to assess terrorism risks, plan for emergencies and implement additional security measures. Parties responsible for venues open to the public can plan for compliance and take proactive steps to improve security.
Why Is Martyn’s Law Training Important?
Public venues and events remain high-risk targets for terrorist attacks, and the UK’s terrorism threat level is currently “substantial”, meaning an attack is likely.
Martyn’s Law places legal duties on organisations to assess risks, strengthen security, and take proportionate measures to protect staff and visitors in premises and events open to the public, including pubs, restaurants and some schools. Failure to comply could result in financial penalties of up to £18 million and even criminal prosecution.
Our Martyn’s Law Training course provides essential knowledge of the new law, its scope and key requirements. It explains steps to assess terrorism risks, strengthen security measures and plan for emergencies, helping organisations enhance safety and align with upcoming legal obligations.
While Martyn’s Law is not yet in effect, organisations responsible for premises and events open to the public will be expected to comply soon. Preparing now will help strengthen security and ensure plans and measures are in place before enforcement begins.
