UKATA works with its members to ensure that all training programs it has certified meet industry standards and are fully comply with HSE legislation.

UKATA

UKATA was founded in 2008 with the goal of raising the standards of asbestos training. Accreditation with UKATA allows training providers to offer UKATA accredited asbestos training, which is preferred by many employers.

UKATA certifies three main types of asbestos training:

  • Asbestos Awareness (previously Type A)
  • Non-Licensed Asbestos Work (previously Type B)
  • Licensed Asbestos Work (previously Type C)

Anyone who wishes to take UKATA approved training can use the UKATA website to find a provider. Undertaking UKATA training will provide employees with certification that is recognised throughout the UK. UKATA certificates are valid for a period of one year. HSE recommends that UKATA approved refresher training be taken every 12 months, or as necessary.
