Between operating heavy machinery, handling hazardous substances and moving large objects, warehouses are some of the most dangerous places to work. Every year, a large number of employees are at risk of sustaining injuries and having accidents while working.
A quarter of major injuries in the warehouse industry are caused by slipping and tripping, according to the Health and Safety Executive. Being hit by moving and falling objects and falling from a height are also significant causes of major injuries.
Warehouse health and safety is not a one-off task and requires constant attention. It means consistently staying on top of the systems in place and using tools such as warehouse safety inspection checklists.
