Our online spillage kit course looks at the risks involved in the cleaning of bodily fluids and how to handle such a situation, without risk to yourself or others.
Bodily fluids present certain hazards to anyone that may come into contact with them. They are a source of infectious micro-organisms such as bacteria, fungi, and viruses. These diseases can cause a range of mild to severe long-lasting ailments that include Hepatitis B and C, and Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV).
Employers have a legal duty to protect their staff from any hazards they may face at work, including those presented by bodily fluids. Under the Control of Substances Hazardous to Health Regulations 2002 (COSHH) regulation employers need to ensure employees are trained to handle such hazards.
