There were 23,113 injuries reported by companies that affected the hands or parts of the upper limbs. Nearly 70% of these injuries were reported by RIDDOR as injuries which kept employees out of work for more than a week.
Workers in industry handle dangerous chemicals, work with risky machines and mechanisms, and in hazardous environments. Our hands are vital for conducting such work, so they’re regularly exposed to potential injury.
As an important risk control, anyone who conducts such work should be provided with adequate training to ensure their hands are safe.
