About First Aid Risk Assessment Training

This awareness level training course is intended for anyone responsible for conducting first aid risk assessment needs within an organisation or a workplace.

The purpose of this course is to provide anyone tasked with conducting a risk assessment with the necessarily knowledge to complete an accurate assessment whilst maintaining compliance.

Why Is First Aid Risk Assessment Training Important?

Under the Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981, business owners have the legal obligation to:

  • Arrange appropriate first aid equipment
  • Arrange appropriate first aid facilities
  • Arrange skilled first aid personnel
  • Inform and educate workers on the first-aid arrangements

“An employer shall provide, or ensure that there are provided, such equipment and facilities as are adequate and appropriate in the circumstances for enabling first-aid to be rendered to his employees if they are injured or become ill at work.”

The Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981, Section 3 (1)

To ensure appropriate measures are in place, employers must carry out a first-aid risk assessment to determine first aid needs. This involves consideration of occupational hazards and risks. It also depends on the organisation’s size and other relevant factors.

A risk assessment will determine what equipment, facilities, and personnel are necessary to provide the appropriate level of care.
