Why Is Asbestos Risk Assessment Training Important?
Asbestos fibres can easily become airborne if products containing asbestos are handled improperly. These fibres are extremely dangerous when inhaled, causing such conditions as plerual plaque, lung cancer, and other major health problems.
One in four construction workers has been exposed to asbestos as per the Institution of Occupational Safety & Health (IOSH). While there are over 5,000 asbestos related deaths each year, according to the Health and Safety Executive.
Under the Control of Asbestos Regulations 2012, property owners must determine whether and where asbestos may exist on the premises. A risk assessment must be completed and controls put in place to ensure that the risk of exposure is as low as reasonably practicable.
