Course Announcement Local Exhaust Ventilation (LEV) Awareness Training

New Online LEV Awareness Training Course

We’re pleased to introduce our latest online course: Local Exhaust Ventilation (LEV) Awareness Training.

This IIRSM-approved course provides awareness-level knowledge to help users identify airborne exposure risks and use LEV systems safely. It explains what LEV systems do, where they are required, and outlines the legal responsibilities of both employers and employees under UK health and safety law.

The course also offers practical guidance on different system types, safe user positioning, key documentation and routine checks to ensure LEV systems are operating effectively.

Why Is LEV Awareness Training Important?

Exposure to airborne contaminants continues to be a major cause of occupational illness in the UK. According to the Health and Safety Executive, around 12,000 lung disease deaths each year are linked to past workplace exposures. Many of these could have been prevented through better control measures.

LEV systems are widely recognised as an effective way to reduce exposure risks, but they must be used and maintained correctly to deliver results.

This course helps build practical knowledge of LEV use and highlights how to recognise signs of system failure. It also supports employers and employees in meeting their responsibilities under the Control of Substances Hazardous to Health Regulations and the Health and Safety at Work etc. Act 1974.
