Working at height
Clear guidance and a useful reminder of risks.
Course Name: What Everyone Needs To Know About Working At Height
Falls from height are the leading cause of workplace deaths and one of the top sources of non-fatal injuries. Because of this, it’s a legal duty to risk assess all work at height and establish control measures that minimise the risk to a reasonably practicable level. Adequate working at height training must also be provided for workers.
Our awareness-level training course teaches the principles of safe working at height. Trainees will understand their role in accident prevention and learn safe working practices to protect themselves and others when conducting this work. They’ll also be able to support the planning process, including equipment selection, hazard spotting and recognising unsafe situations.

Description
Our working at height online training course helps prepare staff for working at height. They’ll learn the critical safety principles of working at height, including planning, equipment selection and safe work practices. Workers will know how to keep themselves and others free from harm and carry out work at height without incident or delay.
Falls from height remain the leading cause of workplace fatalities – a trend that has lasted for several years and looks set to continue.
Accidents while working at height are also a common cause of non-fatal injuries. Over 45,000 workers were hurt because of a workplace fall according to the latest statistics released by the Health and Safety Executive (HSE).
Because of the potential harm, any work at height must be properly planned, supervised and carried out by competent people. These are legal obligations enforced by the HSE to protect employers, workers and members of the public from the significant risks of working at height.
Workers also have a legal duty to take reasonable care of themselves when working at height. They can only do this with supervision or sufficient experience, skills and training.
Our working at height training course supports safer working and helps employers and employees fulfil their legal duties. Workers will understand the risks of working at height and develop awareness of the key safety principles. This knowledge will enable them to make meaningful contributions to plans and risk assessments and act appropriately while working at heights.
Training also helps employees feel capable and confident when operating at heights, leading to a safer, more productive work environment.
The Working at Height Regulations 2005 outline the legal duties employers have to ensure the safety of workers and the general public.
These duties include:
Workers must also be sure they are suitably competent to work at height. The HSE defines competence as the right combination of skills, knowledge and experience but this varies depending on the nature of the work.
HSE guidance states that for certain low-risk tasks workers can achieve the required level of competence through training alone. More complex jobs may require further training in addition to considerable experience, knowledge and skills, however.
Workers also have a duty to protect themselves and others when operating at height. They should be aware of safe working procedures and be able to recognise when conditions are hazardous, equipment is insufficient or risks are unaccounted for. Our online working at height training course helps workers fulfil these duties.
These UK working at height regulations apply to any work at a height where a fall could cause injury. Even relatively low-risk work must be properly planned, supervised and safely carried out if there is any possibility of a fall resulting in harm.
Failure to comply with working at height regulations may result in serious consequences, including penalties, legal action or even imprisonment.
