We are pleased to introduce our fully online course: The Safety Case & Ongoing Safety Management. This online course is designed to help accountable persons and principal accountable persons understand how to support Safety Case Reports with traceable evidence of fire and structural risk management.
This IIRSM-approved training covers the safety case and the written Safety Case Report, preparation for Building Assessment Certificate applications and ongoing safety management in England’s occupied higher-risk residential buildings.
The course also uses practical scenarios on inherited evidence gaps, unverified fire stopping and foreseeable risks around a building.
Duty holders must manage building safety risks under Part 4 of the Building Safety Act 2022. They must also meet the Higher-Risk Buildings (Keeping and Provision of Information etc.) (England) Regulations 2024. Relevant building safety information needs to be accurate, accessible and digitally maintained.
A list of safety measures cannot demonstrate how fire and structural risks are being managed. Building safety teams need records showing what was checked, what was found and what action followed. Missing drawings, undocumented alterations and unverified repairs can leave duty holders unable to substantiate their safety arrangements.
Application documents need to be prepared before the Building Safety Regulator directs a Building Assessment Certificate application. The Safety Case Report, resident engagement strategy and mandatory occurrence reporting information need to be ready for submission. Report statements need evidence showing how risks are managed and what action follows identified defects.
The course builds a shared understanding of evidence gathering, report preparation and continuing safety management, helping organisations:
- Develop understanding of how Safety Case Reports connect to supporting records
- Increase awareness of the need for documented follow-up of defects, missing information and building changes
- Highlight the risks of relying on undocumented or unverified safety arrangements
- Build understanding of how inspections, remedial actions and continuing reviews demonstrate the management of fire and structural risks
This course is for organisations including housing associations, registered housing providers, local authority housing, residential property management, build-to-rent, freeholders, managing agents, high-rise residential asset management and student accommodation within the relevant regime.
