New Course: Damp and Mould Awareness Training
We’re pleased to announce the launch of our new online course: Damp and Mould Awareness Training.
Those responsible for housing or workplace premises have a duty to manage damp and mould when it threatens the health of occupants or employees.
Damp and Mould Awareness Training provides direction on meeting this duty and protecting occupants’ health. It covers relevant legislation, including the forthcoming Awaab’s Law, and explains key steps to ensure compliance and control damp and mould risk on premises. It also outlines how to address residents’ complaints of damp and mould, as well as what to record for proof of compliance.
Why Is Damp and Mould Awareness Training Important?
Damp and mould are extremely hazardous to health. Prolonged exposure can lead to infections, breathing difficulties and, in extreme cases, life-threatening illness.
The law recognises this risk. When damp or mould is identified in a property or premises, duty holders are expected to respond in line with a range of legal requirements, including:
- The Housing Act 2004, which introduced the Housing Health and Safety Rating System (HHSRS)
- The Landlord and Tenant Act 1985, which sets repair obligations for landlords
- The Health and Safety at Work etc. Act 1974, which protects employees in affected workplaces
- And the upcoming Awaab’s Law, which will impose strict timeframes for addressing complaints
This CPD-certified and IIRSM-approved course helps duty holders navigate those legal requirements with clarity. It explains what each law demands, who is responsible and how to respond in a way that is both compliant and practical.
By building awareness and confidence, the training helps duty holders protect occupants, fulfil their duties and prevent escalating costs and legal risks.
