Why is Fire Door Maintenance Training Important?
Fire doors play a key role in fire safety. In the event of a fire, they protect escape routes while containing the spread of flames and smoke. However, faults and general wear and tear will compromise a fire door’s ability to perform as expected, putting people at risk.
To ensure fire doors are functional, responsible persons must see regular maintenance carried out. Article 17 of the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 requires all fire safety precautions in non-domestic premises, including fire doors, to be maintained in efficient working order.
Fire doors in multi-occupied residential buildings must also be well-maintained. Under the Fire Safety (England) Regulations 2022, fire doors in communal areas must be checked quarterly. Fire-rated flat entrance doors must also be checked annually. Duty holders have a responsibility to correct any faults as soon as possible.
Failure to comply increases fire risks and can result in legal penalties.
This online Fire Door Maintenance training course provides users with a greater understanding of regulatory requirements and guides them on maintaining fire doors in a safe and compliant condition.
