This module examines conformity standards, EHSRs, harmonised technical standards, the technical file and how machinery modifications must be handled
This module looks at equipment risk controls, including systems of guarding, isolation, safe systems of work, and warnings and markings
This module covers specific requirements for equipment safety that PUWER covers, and looks at how they are applied
This course covers the inspection context, providing maintenance and support staff of a key understanding of their role in this process

Under PUWER, all work equipment must be maintained by competent personnel who have received adequate training. Training should cover how to ensure equipment is compliant with regulations and ultimately safe for use.
PUWER Essentials Training helps maintenance and support staff fulfil their maintenance duties in line with equipment safety regulations. They learn to accurately interpret PUWER inspection reports, address identified issues and close reports effectively. Users also develop the knowledge needed to identify faults, hazards or inadequate guarding during routine maintenance, helping ensure equipment operation, safety and compliance across the workplace.
PUWER Essentials empowers maintenance and support teams to fulfil their duties in line with PUWER regulations. Users learn how to interpret PUWER inspection report findings and resolve issues to ensure safe, compliant work equipment. They also learn to recognise potential hazards, defects and other problems that risk safety and compliance during routine maintenance.
Under PUWER, all work equipment must be regularly maintained and in safe working order. Maintenance and support teams responsible for equipment must understand PUWER regulations and how they relate to their day-to-day work. PUWER Essentials provides this understanding and helps support teams to maintain equipment per best practice and avoid penalties and delays of non-compliance.
