Work at Height Rescue for Operatives

Falls from height are the leading cause of fatal injuries at work in the UK. After a fall, a worker left suspended in a harness can lose consciousness within minutes and may die in as little as ten. Rescue plans often fail not because equipment is missing, but because operatives have not been properly briefed on what to do.

This toolkit helps operatives understand site rescue plans, recognise rescue equipment and take the right action when a fall occurs. It also helps supervisors and principal contractors show that rescue briefings are in place, supporting safe systems of work and compliance with the Work at Height Regulations 2005.

Work at Height Rescue for Operatives Course

Work at Height Rescue for Operatives

This IIRSM-approved Work at Height Rescue course for Operatives gives organisations a consistent way to brief site operatives on rescue arrangements before work begins. It builds a working understanding of site rescue plans, suspension trauma and the types of rescue equipment used on site. The course helps operatives recognise their role in a rescue, understand what to do if they fall or witness a fall, and know when specialist rescuers or emergency services must take over.
