Customer Feedback
Why is Fire Door Inspection Training Important?
Fire doors are a critical part of every building’s fire safety. They provide passive fire protection in an emergency and limit the spread of smoke and flames, creating safe evacuation and access routes.
Despite their importance, fire doors are routinely neglected by fire safety duty holders. A survey conducted by the Fire Door Inspection Scheme found that 75% of fire doors failed their inspections, meaning they would be unable to function properly in a fire emergency.
Evidence such as this highlights why inspections are vital. Faults can occur at every stage of a fire door’s lifecycle – from manufacture to installation – and these faults are easily overlooked during ‘tick box’ inspections or those carried out by untrained individuals.
Having a fire door in place is not enough to protect people and property. Regular inspection by competent individuals is essential to make sure it will work in an emergency.
About Fire Door Inspection Training
Fire doors must be inspected regularly to ensure they are adequately maintained. Anyone who wants to inspect and certify fire doors must be competent. This means they have suitable skills, knowledge and training to do the job.
