About First Aid During Coronavirus Training

This basic awareness training is intended for designated first aiders to implement safety control measures in case of an emergency at work.

The purpose of this training is to provide a thorough understanding of coronavirus infection, how it spreads and first aid provisions to control it.

Why Is First Aid During Coronavirus Training Important?

On 31 December 2019, a cluster of pneumonia cases was detected in Wuhan City, Hubei Province, China. On 11 February 2020, World Health Organisation (WHO) named the syndrome COVID using its best practice for naming infectious diseases.

The European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control report published in October 2020 states that more than 40.4 million coronavirus cases have been diagnosed, with over 1.1 million fatalities, by the 20th of October 2020.

The Department of Health and Social Care’s latest coronavirus statistics report (October 2020) was published in Great Britain.  The visual dashboard exhibits detailed information regarding reported cases, deaths and the number of PCR tests processed.

The COVID-based WHO dashboard shows the latest country by country statistics on COVID-19 cases and deaths. Moreover, the WHO publishes its international situation report that best explains the current circumstances.

Employers are responsible for ensuring that their employees are aware and receive immediate attention in case of sickness or injury at work. The Health and Safety (First-Aid) Regulations 1981 sets out guidelines for employers to follow to ensure they can provide sufficient first aid when the situation arises.

They must put in place appropriate first-aid arrangements at workplaces, including the workplace circumstances, equipment and health and safety risks to help decide what arrangements need to be implemented.

And so, adequate and appropriate training is also needed to work safely and competently in emergencies.
